MBALE HOTELS:

Hotel Restville: The hotel is located at Plot 43, Bumboi Road, Busamaga, Wanale Division. The venue is set in well maintained gardens in the footsteps of the Wanale Mountain easily viewed from the hotel. You will find 11 comfortable rooms, free wireless Internet access and both DSTV and GTV satellite TV. There is a well stocked bar and a comfortable lounge/restaurant area.

Mount Elgon Hotel:
The hotel has a very grand colonial exterior and some fine details inside. The hotel was renovated in 2006 and even further recent additions have included a swimming pool with views of Wanale.

Kayegi Hotel: This modern new hotel is located in the quiet Senior quarters area of Mbale at Plot 45B Masaba road some 5 minutes drive from town. The hotel has 25 rooms each with an en-suite bathroom, tv, fridge and reading desk. There is a spacious dining room and large garden at the rear of the hotel.

Wash & Wills Country Home: Plot 37 Mbiro Rd. Not centrally located but close enough to town for those wanting to walk. 30 rooms. Safe secure parking available. The hotel has it's own restaurant and garden recreation area. All rooms self contained.

Clock Tower

Mid Range:
Sunrise Inn: Located at Plot M45 Nakhupa Rd, Senior Quarters. Get there by proceeding up Republic street from the Clock Tower, pass the National Parks offices continuing until a sharp right bend. Sunrise Inn is sign posted immediately on the left. Bar and restaurant, clean rooms all self-contained. Safe secure parking.

Hotel Eldima:. Plot 35 Republic Street in the town centre. There is a large busy restaurant on the ground floor open onto the main street.

Friends Inn Guest House: T. Plot 49 Wanale Rd.

Green Gardens Hotel: Located between Friends Inn and Landmark Inn on the road sign posted to Mbale Resort. 14 self contained rooms and 4 non self contained. Secure parking in spacious grounds.

Landmark Inn: is a choice location for those wanting to stay in town and camp in the garden of this colonial house. Specialises in East Indian Asian cusine with a very comprehensive menu.

The Mt. Elgon View: Central with an excellent Indian restaurant below at street level.

Sayona Hotel: Recommended by the National Parks office. Other hotels include the Mbale hotel which is central, basic and cheap, the Christian Guest House which has a range of rooms is good value, clean and friendly and the Paramount Hotel again pleasant, clean with a bar and restaurant.

Central Mbale - Pallisa Road

Accommodation Pallisa:
Country Inn: Some 16 km off the Tirinyi to Mbale road. 23 self contained rooms, a large 5 acre garden with free camping, a swimming pool underway, tennis court, children's park, restaurant and bar. Direct access to Soroti and all the attractions in the Mbale area.

Mount Elgon Treks
Climbs can be organised from the Mt. Elgon National Park Headquarters in Mbale, Tel 045 433170, Plot 19-21, Masaba Rd, House #84. This is not totally necessary as you can pay fees up at the Budadiri office, however you cannot rent equipment you may need. For those without their own equipment the National Parks office in Mbale has tents for rental at Ushs10,000- per day and sleeping bags at Ushs2,000- per day.

Communications:
There are several Internet facilities in Mbale. Neema Cafe is at 15 Republic St whilst closer to the Post Office is Cyber cafe. All charge Ushs25- per minute. Additionally around town you will find The Elgon cafe, Fancy cafe, Chanel cafe and Telekom (Mazaba).
